Last updated: January 27, 2026
By accessing or using the Carbon Data Registry ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. Service Description
Carbon Data Registry provides a digital platform for Australian businesses to:
- Calculate Scope 1 (direct fuel combustion) and Scope 2 (purchased electricity) greenhouse gas emissions
- Generate a verified PDF certificate documenting reported emissions data
- Maintain a permanent record with a unique Registry ID
Calculations are based on emission factors published in the National Greenhouse Accounts (NGA) Factors 2026 by the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
2. Accuracy and Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of all data submitted to the Registry. The Service performs mathematical calculations based on your inputs and does not verify, audit, or validate the authenticity of your source consumption data.
The generated certificate reflects data as reported by you. Misrepresentation of emissions data may constitute a breach of applicable environmental regulations.
3. Fees and Payment
The Service charges a one-time submission fee of $49 AUD (inclusive of GST where applicable). Payment is processed securely via Stripe. Upon successful payment:
- Your emissions record is activated in the Registry
- Your PDF certificate becomes available for download
- A tax invoice is emailed to the address provided during checkout
4. Refund Policy
We offer refunds in the following circumstances:
- Technical failure preventing certificate generation (full refund)
- Duplicate payment made in error (full refund of duplicate charge)
Refunds are not available for change of mind, incorrect data entry by the user, or dissatisfaction with calculated results which are based on official NGA Factors.
5. Intellectual Property
The Carbon Data Registry name, logo, and website design are proprietary. Your submitted data and generated certificate remain your property.
6. Limitation of Liability
The Service is a data recording and calculation tool. We are not the Clean Energy Regulator, a government authority, or an accredited auditor.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for:
- Decisions made by third parties based on your certificate
- Regulatory non-compliance arising from incorrect data submission
- Indirect, consequential, or incidental damages
